Questions are now being openly asked about how certain Sarpanchs\u2014without any visible or declared sources of substantial income\u2014have reportedly acquired lavish homes, multiple properties, high-end vehicles, and significant assets over the years.<br><br>Observers point out that Village Panchayats play a crucial role in granting construction permissions, trade licenses, No Objection Certificates (NOCs), land-use clearances, and other approvals. These powers, it is alleged, have increasingly become avenues for corruption, with accusations that files are selectively processed based on influence or monetary inducements.<br><br>There are also allegations that some Sarpanchs have remained in power for extended periods, effectively turning Panchayats into strongholds of control.
