Panaji, June 19: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has urged the Goa Government to immediately fill the vacant Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posts and provide justice to candidates placed on the waiting list, alleging an unexplained delay in the recruitment process.<\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police on June 17, Chodankar pointed out that although 187 PSI posts were advertised, only 126 candidates reportedly joined the training programme conducted in Delhi, leaving over 60 posts vacant.<\/p>\n
According to Chodankar, a waiting list of qualified candidates was officially published in February 2026. However, despite the availability of vacancies and the successful completion of all recruitment stages by these candidates, the authorities have not initiated the document verification and medical examination process for more than four months.<\/p>\n
He stated that the delay has created uncertainty and hardship for deserving Goan youth who have cleared the examinations and fulfilled all eligibility requirements. Chodankar said the situation raises serious concerns about the government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based recruitment.<\/p>\n
The GPCC President further noted that several candidates from OBC and other reserved categories are awaiting consideration and stressed that all remaining vacancies should be filled strictly in accordance with category-wise reservation norms.<\/p>\n
In his representation, Chodankar demanded the immediate issuance of calls to all eligible waiting list candidates for document verification and medical examinations. He also sought the filling of all vacant PSI posts as per reservation requirements, a clear time-bound schedule to complete the recruitment process within the next 15 to 20 days, and complete transparency regarding the status of the waiting list and vacant posts.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the manpower shortage within the Goa Police, Chodankar said that filling the vacant positions would strengthen law enforcement while creating employment opportunities for qualified Goan youth.<\/p>\n
“The Government must act without further delay. Every deserving candidate has the right to a fair opportunity, and every vacant post must be filled in the interest of public administration and law enforcement,” he stated.<\/p>\n
