Pernem, July 9: The Tuem Hospital Kruti Samitee has urged the Goa Government to immediately address several pending issues at the Tuem Health and Research Centre (GMC-linked), stating that delays in completing key works and irregular services are affecting patient care in Pernem taluka. The representation was submitted to the Joint Secretary, Department of Health Services, Government of Goa.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In its memorandum, the Samitee said that while the gas pipeline installation work has been largely completed, the final finishing, testing and commissioning are still pending. It urged the authorities to expedite the remaining work so that the facility can become fully functional.<\/p>\n

The Samitee also expressed concern over the slow progress of the Operation Theatre, stating that at the current pace it may take another four to five months to complete. It has sought immediate directions from the Health Department to speed up the work.<\/p>\n

Another issue highlighted in the representation is the irregular availability of doctors deputed from Goa Medical College (GMC). According to the Samitee, patients visiting the OPD often face inconvenience due to the non-availability of doctors as per the scheduled roster. It has called for regular monitoring and better coordination with GMC authorities to ensure uninterrupted medical services.<\/p>\n

The memorandum also points to the shortage of medicines at the hospital pharmacy. It has requested the Health Department to coordinate with the GMC pharmacy to ensure the availability of medicines prescribed by GMC doctors.<\/p>\n

The Samitee further demanded the immediate demolition of an old water tank near the hospital’s main gate, describing it as a safety hazard. It noted that despite an assurance during the visit of the local MLA that the structure would be removed within a month, the work is yet to be carried out.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Samitee has sought the establishment of a police outpost or police counter at the hospital to enhance the safety of patients, visitors and medical staff.<\/p>\n

Convener Jose Lobo stated that the people of Pernem are looking forward to a fully functional and efficient healthcare facility and appealed to the government to take timely action on the pending issues. The Tuem Government Hospital and Research Centre was inaugurated as a GMC-linked facility earlier this year, with Operation Theatre services and additional facilities expected to be introduced in phases.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
