Panaji, August 2: RTI activist Sudip Narayan Tamankar has written to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant requesting an official directive restraining the Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. (KTCL) from hiring or inducting any additional electric buses from Olectra\/Evey Transline, alleging that the corporation’s expansion plans contradict assurances given during a recent transport stakeholders’ meeting. <\/p>\n
In his representation dated August 2, Tamankar claimed that KTCL has already hired or procured 175 electric buses under various Central and State green mobility schemes. According to the letter, these include buses of different capacities operating under multiple projects.<\/p>\n
Tamankar stated that during a transport meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on July 28, 2026, attended by senior officials of the Transport Department, stakeholders were assured that KTCL would be restrained from hiring any more electric buses from the Hyderabad-based Olectra\/Evey Transline company. <\/p>\n
However, he alleged that despite this verbal assurance, KTCL management is continuing with plans to induct more electric buses from the same private company, thereby undermining the policy directions discussed during the meeting.<\/p>\n
The representation further claims that 1,460 private stage carriage bus operators in Goa are anxious over reports that KTCL has already cleared provisions to induct 50 more electric buses as part of its fleet expansion programme while gradually phasing out older diesel buses by 2027.<\/p>\n
Seeking immediate government intervention, Tamankar has urged the Chief Minister to issue a legally binding directive to the Transport Department and KTCL management halting any further hiring or induction of electric buses from Olectra\/Evey Transline. He has also requested that a copy of the directive be provided to him for official records.<\/p>\n
The letter states that such action would honour the commitments made during the July 28 transport meeting and help address the concerns of private bus operators across Goa.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
