Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz and youth leader Prabhav Naik has launched a public campaign titled “Aamka Naka Rent-a-Car”, demanding immediate government action against reckless driving by Rent-a-Car vehicles on Goa’s roads.
Naik said that speeding, dangerous overtaking and irresponsible driving by such vehicles have turned Goa’s roads into “death traps”, resulting in innocent lives being lost.
Referring to recent accidents, Naik said that on May 26, a Rent-a-Car vehicle allegedly hit an innocent lady rider in South Goa, while another tragic accident in North Goa claimed the life of a youth and left another boy injured.
“These are not isolated incidents anymore. Goa is witnessing a disturbing rise in accidents involving Rent-a-Car vehicles, and fear among citizens is growing day by day,” Naik said, while offering condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the injured boy’s recovery.
Naik criticised the government for failing to act despite repeated warnings. He said that two days ago, he had urged the authorities to take strict corrective measures against the Rent-a-Car menace, but no serious action was taken.
“How many more accidents and deaths are needed before the Government wakes up?” he questioned.
Calling for a united public movement, Naik appealed to Goans to record short videos with the slogan “AAMKA NAKA RENT-A-CAR” and share them on social media. Citizens have also been urged to WhatsApp their videos to 7499358266 to strengthen the campaign.
“Goa cannot remain silent while our roads become increasingly unsafe. This is about protecting innocent lives. Together, we must build strong public pressure and compel the Government to act before it is too late,” Prabhav Naik said.
