Panaji, June 23: The Bombay High Court at Goa has issued notices to Panaji Mayor Rohit Monserrate and several other respondents in connection with a petition alleging illegal encroachment and dumping of earth on land belonging to the Taleigao Communidade. The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on July 28.The petition was filed by Jose Rodrigues, Eusebio Gomes and Vito Gomes. The respondents include the State Government, Taleigao Panchayat, Taleigao Communidade, Panaji Mayor Rohit Monserrate, the Deputy Collector and other concerned authorities.According to the petitioners, illegal earth filling has been carried out on land bearing Survey No. 186 belonging to the Taleigao Communidade. They have also alleged that unauthorized construction activities are being undertaken on the property.The petitioners claim that several complaints were submitted to the concerned authorities seeking action against the alleged violations. However, they allege that the authorities failed to take any effective steps and ignored the complaints, forcing them to approach the High Court.During the hearing, the petitioners placed the relevant facts before the court. Taking note of the allegations, the High Court issued notices to Panaji Mayor Rohit Monserrate, the Taleigao Panchayat, Taleigao Communidade, the Chief Town Planner and other respondents.The court has fixed the matter for further hearing on July 28. The case is expected to focus on the legality of the earth-filling activities, alleged encroachments and the response of the concerned authorities to the complaints raised by the petitioners.
