Panaji, 7 September: Goa recovered from an early batting collapse to register a four-wicket victory over Puducherry in the Siechem Trophy Inter-State U-19 Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament at the Slims Cricket Ground in Puducherry.

Electing to bat first, Puducherry were restricted to 77 for seven in their allotted 20 overs as Goa’s bowlers maintained tight lines and kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

Renisha Rajendran provided the resistance for Puducherry, remaining unbeaten on 45 off 44 deliveries. For Goa, Prachi Nikam and Vidhi Bhandare picked up two wickets each.

Chasing a modest target of 78, Goa found themselves in early trouble at 7 for two. Captain Athashree Shivarkar and Usma Khan then steadied the innings with a crucial partnership.

Athashree scored 33 off 40 balls, while Usma contributed 30 off 38 deliveries to put Goa back on course.

Puducherry’s Agalya tried to turn the game around with a three-wicket haul, but Goa held their nerve and reached 78 for six in the 17th over to complete a four-wicket win.
