Porvorim, April 27, 2026:
The Directorate of Education, Government of Goa, has issued a strict circular directing all government and government-aided schools to cap the cost of prospectus and admission forms at ₹100 or the actual printing cost, whichever is lower.
The directive comes after complaints that some schools were charging excessive amounts for prospectus and admission forms during the ongoing admission season.
According to the circular issued by Director of Education Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde, schools have been clearly instructed:
The combined cost of prospectus and admission form must not exceed ₹100
No hidden or additional charges are allowed under any circumstances
Schools must ensure full transparency in cost calculation
Records must be made available for inspection if required
The department has warned that any violation of these guidelines will be treated seriously and may lead to disciplinary action against the institutions concerned.
The circular mandates immediate compliance from all heads of government and aided schools across the state.
This move is aimed at protecting parents and students from unfair financial burden and ensuring transparency in the admission process, especially as the new academic year has already begun in Goa.
