Panaji, 31 August: Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA from St. Andre, Viresh Borkar, raised the issue of a pending breach of privilege matter in the Goa Legislative Assembly, questioning the delay and demanding clarity on the present status of the proceedings.

Raising the matter in the House, Borkar sought to know at what stage the privilege proceedings currently stand and urged the authorities concerned to ensure that the matter is taken up for hearing at the earliest.

He said issues involving the privileges and functioning of the Legislature should not be allowed to remain pending indefinitely and must be dealt with through a transparent and time-bound process.

“Accountability must not be delayed. If a breach of privilege matter is pending before the Assembly, there must be clarity on its status and a timely process for hearing and deciding it,” Borkar said.

The RGP legislator maintained that the credibility of the Legislature depends on the effective functioning of parliamentary mechanisms, equal application of rules and timely disposal of matters placed before the House.

Borkar also called for a clear timeline for consideration of the pending matter, stressing that prolonged uncertainty over legislative proceedings undermines transparency and accountability.

“The people of Goa deserve institutions that are transparent, accountable and responsive. Legislative matters cannot be allowed to remain pending without clarity,” he said.

Borkar urged the concerned authorities to communicate the present status of the breach of privilege matter and ensure that it is heard and decided without further delay.
