Cancel Porvorim Flyover Inaugural Event, Prabhav Naik Urges Gadkari in Letter

Panaji, 31 August: Madganvcho Awaaz and youth leader Prabhav Naik has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, urging him to cancel the proposed inaugural event of the Porvorim Flyover in view of the devastating floods in Nepal.

In his letter to Gadkari, Naik said that holding an extravagant inaugural programme at a time when Nepal is facing a major humanitarian tragedy would send the wrong message.

“The Government must show sensitivity and humanity towards flood-ravaged Nepal by cancelling the extravagant inaugural event of the Porvorim Flyover. This is not a time for celebration, but for compassion, solidarity and standing with those facing a devastating tragedy,” Naik stated.

Naik appealed to Gadkari to take note of the suffering caused by the floods and ensure that the Porvorim Flyover inauguration is kept simple and dignified rather than being turned into a grand celebration.

He said governments and public representatives must demonstrate restraint and compassion during moments of large-scale human suffering.

According to Naik, cancelling the extravagant inaugural event would send a strong message that Goa and India stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal during their hour of crisis.

Naik, through his letter to the Union Minister, urged the authorities to put humanity ahead of celebration and avoid unnecessary expenditure on the inaugural function.
