Goa Police Crack 2025 Dacoity Cases; Six Accused Arrested After Nationwide Hunt

Panaji, May 1, 2026:Goa Police have successfully cracked two major dacoity cases reported in 2025 at Dona Paula and Mapusa, arresting six accused persons following an extensive, multi-state investigation.

According to an official press note, the crimes were reported on April 20 and October 7, 2025. Police teams from North District and the Crime Branch launched a year-long probe, tracking suspects across several cities including Belgaum, Bijapur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Tripura, and Meghalaya.

Using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and intelligence sharing with other state police units, investigators identified members of the gang and circulated their details nationwide.

Accused Traced Across India and Bangladesh

The accused have been identified as individuals from Bangladesh, with police revealing that the gang had interstate and international links. Earlier arrests in the case had already exposed a support network operating from Goa and other states.

Investigations revealed that one of the key accused had prior links to Goa and had earlier been lodged in Colvale Jail, where connections with other accused were formed.

Arrests in Delhi Following Goa Police Inputs

On the intervening night of April 14–15, 2026, Delhi Crime Branch arrested the accused based on inputs provided by Goa Police. Five of the six accused have since been brought to Goa on transit remand after a 30-hour journey.

They were produced before the JMFC court in Panaji on April 30 and remanded to 11 days of police custody. Authorities have also invoked provisions under the Foreigners Act, considering the accused are foreign nationals.

Modus Operandi Revealed

Preliminary interrogation has revealed that the gang carried out reconnaissance of targeted residential areas, often staying in secluded or forested locations to study movement patterns of residents.

They operated in small groups, avoided digital communication, and used common public locations such as bus stands and railway stations as meeting points to evade detection.

The accused were reportedly armed with rods and knives procured locally and would enter houses, tie up residents, and flee with gold ornaments and valuables after assessing the layout.

Investigation Continues

Goa Police stated that efforts are underway to recover stolen property and trace the source of weapons used in the crimes. One more accused is yet to be brought to Goa.

The investigation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers including DGP Alok Kumar, IGP Keshav Ram Chaurasiya, and SP Crime Rahul Gupta, along with a dedicated team of Crime Branch officials.
