Panaji, June 15: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will commemorate the historic Goa Revolution Day on June 18 by organizing a special public programme titled “Jan Kranti – Rise Up for Goa” at Anantya Banquet Hall, Xim, Khorlim, Mapusa, at 3:30 p.m.

The event is being organized to pay tribute to the sacrifices and courage of the freedom fighters who spearheaded Goa’s liberation movement and to reaffirm the collective responsibility of citizens in safeguarding democracy, constitutional values, and the rights of the people.

According to the GPCC, the programme will draw inspiration from the historic uprising led by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and the countless Goans who fearlessly challenged Portuguese colonial rule, making June 18 a defining milestone in Goa’s freedom struggle.

Congress leaders addressing the gathering are expected to reflect on the continued relevance of the revolutionary spirit in present-day Goa. Discussions will focus on issues related to governance, public welfare, youth aspirations, employment opportunities, protection of natural resources, and the preservation of Goa’s unique identity and cultural heritage.

The GPCC has appealed to party office-bearers, frontal organizations, elected representatives, youth, women, social activists, and citizens from across the state to participate in large numbers and make the programme a meaningful tribute to the legacy of Goa’s freedom movement.

The party stated that “Jan Kranti – Rise Up for Goa” is envisioned not merely as a commemoration of a historic event but as a call for renewed public participation, democratic engagement, and collective action towards building a stronger, progressive, and people-centric Goa.
