Valpoi, Sept 2: Milind Prabhu has filed a complaint with Valpoi Police seeking registration of an FIR and investigation into alleged negligence and safety lapses at the 2 MLD raw-water tank at Keri, Sattari.

The complaint names Rashmi Shirodkar and other responsible PWD/PHE officials, alleging prolonged accumulation of sludge, a corroded access ladder, inadequate security and possible lapses in maintenance of the facility.

Prabhu referred to videos reportedly recorded inside the tank by Vishwasrao Rane, Sameer Govekar and others, which allegedly showed substantial mud or sludge and unsafe infrastructure. He argued that while an FIR was reportedly registered against those who entered the facility without authorisation, the circumstances that allegedly allowed such access and the condition of the tank also require an independent investigation.

The complaint seeks preservation of CCTV footage, maintenance and cleaning records, water-quality reports, bills, work orders and other documents, besides scientific testing of water and sludge samples. It also seeks verification of whether public money was paid for cleaning, maintenance or security work that may not have actually been carried out.

Prabhu has further requested police to ensure that persons complained against are not allowed to destroy evidence, influence witnesses or participate in sample collection or the independent technical inquiry. He has sought referral of any material indicating corruption or financial irregularities to the Directorate of Vigilance/Anti-Corruption Branch.

He has also asked the police to inform him in writing about the FIR number and action taken on the complaint.

Copies of the complaint have been submitted to the North Goa SP, Goa DGP, North Goa Collector, Directorate of Vigilance, Directorate of Health Services, PWD Chief Engineer and PWD Secretary for information and necessary action.
