Porvorim, September 1, 2026: The Goa Government on Tuesday withdrew two important Bills from the Legislative Assembly during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
The Bills withdrawn were the Goa Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Goa Prisons and Correctional Services Bill, 2026.
The decision means that both proposed legislations will not be taken forward for passage in their present form during the current Assembly session.
The Goa Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was related to the regulatory framework governing private universities in the state, while the Goa Prisons and Correctional Services Bill, 2026 dealt with the administration and functioning of prisons and correctional services.
The withdrawal of the two Bills came as the Assembly continued to take up several legislative proposals during the short Monsoon Session.
