Borkar Raises Unemployment and Job Security Concerns in Goa Assembly

Panaji, 31 August: RGP MLA and St. Andre constituency representative Viresh Borkar raised serious concerns over unemployment and job insecurity in Goa during the ongoing proceedings of the Goa Legislative Assembly.

Borkar highlighted the difficulties faced by young job seekers and workers in the education sector, stressing the need for fair employment opportunities, transparent recruitment and greater job security.

He particularly called attention to the situation of education-sector workers who continue to serve on contractual or temporary arrangements. He urged the government to take concrete steps towards their regularisation and long-term employment security, recognising their contribution to Goa’s education system.

“Employment should provide dignity and security, not uncertainty. Those who have been serving the education system for years deserve a fair opportunity and clarity about their future,” Borkar said.

Borkar emphasised that addressing unemployment must remain a priority, particularly at a time when many qualified Goan youth are struggling to find stable employment within the state.

He called upon the government to ensure that recruitment processes remain fair, transparent and merit-based, while taking appropriate measures to protect the interests of existing education workers.

The RGP MLA maintained that job creation and employment security are not merely administrative issues but matters directly connected to the future and dignity of Goa’s youth and working population.
