Chief Minister Leads International Yoga Day Celebrations at Bambolim Stadium

Bambolim, June 21: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant participated in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, on Sunday. The event was organised by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, State AYUSH Society Goa, and the Ministry of AYUSH.

Addressing participants, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting healthy ageing and overall well-being. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 12 years of efforts in taking yoga to the global stage and transforming it into an international movement. He described yoga as a timeless cultural gift of India that has gained worldwide recognition.

Dr. Sawant said that yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a holistic way of life that fosters harmony between the mind, body and spirit. He noted that the practice empowers people across all sections of society by promoting health, discipline, balance and inner strength.

The Chief Minister urged citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine, stating that regular practice can contribute significantly to building a healthier Goa, a healthier India and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

A large number of yoga enthusiasts, sportspersons, students, government officials and members of the public participated in the programme, which was conducted under the theme of promoting healthy ageing through yoga. The event featured mass yoga demonstrations and awareness activities aimed at encouraging a healthier lifestyle among citizens.
