Panaji: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, raising issue of through Calling Attention, has demanded decisive action against those involved in human trafficking.

He stated that this illegal trade is tarnishing the reputation of Goa and must be dismantled and eradicated without delay.

He further urged the government to withdraw licenses of establishments found to be promoting or facilitating such activities.

Yuri Alemao said that police have failed to arrest kingpins involved in this trade. “This network should be eradicated to protect the name of Goa. This trade is happening in hotels, massage parlours, industrial belts, in flats in Calangute and Anjuna and Verna. On apps and on every smartphone, on websites that are accessible to anyone who searches for ‘escort services in Goa’ and they are found immediately, at the very top of the search results,” Alemao pointed out demanding blocking escort websites.

He said that despite there are two Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Goa Police in the state, they are not active. “The Superintendent of Police who have been given charge of these two units should be active and take action against culprits,” he said.
