RGP Expels 10 Members Amid Escalating Internal Rift

Panaji, June 16: The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has expelled 10 members from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect, citing alleged anti-party activities and a conspiracy to split the organization.

In an official disciplinary order issued by RGP General Secretary Vishvesh Naik on June 16, the party stated that it had taken serious note of an alleged unauthorized meeting held in Margao without the approval of any office-bearer of the party.

According to the order, discussions at the alleged meeting reportedly included plans to split the party, take control of the party’s football election symbol, change the party president, restructure the Core Executive Committee, initiate court proceedings against the party, force the convening of a General Body Meeting, and facilitate the re-entry of expelled members.

The party further alleged that certain members had engaged in anti-party activities through social media posts, public comments, press conferences, and other actions that allegedly damaged the party’s image, unity, and discipline.

Following recommendations from the Disciplinary Committee and the Core Executive Committee, the RGP announced the termination of the following members:

  1. Prashant Pagi (Canacona)
  2. Licio Roncon (St. Cruz)
  3. Manila Shirodkar (Siroda)
  4. Rahul Naik (Siroda)
  5. Premanand Gaude (Marcaim)
  6. Dagley Fernandes (Velim)
  7. Melvin Da Silva (Benaulim)
  8. Vishal Dessai (Quepem)
  9. Aditya Dessai (Curchorem)
  10. Sanjan (Sam) Naik (Canacona)

The order states that the disciplinary action has been initiated in accordance with the party constitution and that the expelled members shall cease to have any association with the Revolutionary Goans Party in any capacity with immediate effect.

The latest development comes amid ongoing reports of internal differences within the regional party. In recent weeks, RGP leaders had publicly denied rumours of a split while acknowledging internal disputes and initiating disciplinary proceedings against members accused of working against the party’s interests.

The expulsions are expected to further intensify the internal crisis within the party, which has been facing growing factionalism following recent leadership disputes and disagreements over the future direction of the organization.
