Panaji, August 20, 2026: The political row over the funding of the BJP’s newly constructed office intensified on Thursday, with Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar challenging the ruling party to disclose the complete financial trail behind the project, including the names of donors, individual contributions and audited expenditure.
Panjikar’s statement came after BJP Goa President Damu Naik rejected Congress allegations regarding the funding of the party office and said the BJP was prepared to publicly apologise if the Congress could prove that any casino had contributed towards its construction.
Naik also accused the Congress of being “jealous” of the BJP’s new office.
BJP leader Sanket Arsekar too launched a counterattack on GPCC President Girish Chodankar, dismissing his allegations that the BJP office had been funded with casino money. Arsekar said there was “no need to take Chodankar seriously” and alleged that the Congress had suffered electoral setbacks under his leadership. He also questioned Chodankar’s comments on money and accused him of involvement in the exchange of money for party tickets.
Responding to the BJP leaders, Panjikar said political statements and counter-allegations would not settle the controversy and that the BJP should instead place documentary evidence before the people of Goa.
“If the BJP office has genuinely been built from contributions made by party workers, then why is the BJP hesitant to disclose the complete list of donors and the amounts contributed by each donor? Publish the donor list, contribution details and audited accounts. Let ‘doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani’ be done before the people of Goa,” Panjikar said.
He challenged Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, BJP State President Damu Naik, ministers, MLAs and other BJP leaders to make the complete funding details public.
Panjikar said the BJP should categorically establish that every rupee spent on the office was received through lawful and properly accounted channels.
He further questioned whether the funds had come exclusively from declared party contributions or whether any money had been received from casino interests, land-conversion intermediaries, event-related commissions, alleged “cash-for-jobs” networks or other undisclosed sources.
At the same time, Panjikar clarified that he was not making a criminal allegation against any particular individual but was demanding transparency to remove doubts surrounding the funding.
“Goans have every right to know whether the money came only from declared party contributions or whether there were donations from casino interests, land-conversion intermediaries, event-related commissions, alleged ‘cash-for-jobs’ networks or other undisclosed sources. I am not making a criminal allegation against any individual; I am demanding transparency and asking the BJP to remove every suspicion through full disclosure,” he said.
Panjikar maintained that questions surrounding political funding could not be brushed aside merely through verbal denials or political counterattacks.
“If the BJP has nothing to hide, it should publish the complete donor list and audited expenditure statement. Do not give speeches about transparency—show the accounts. Every legitimate contribution can withstand public scrutiny,” he said.
The Congress leader demanded disclosure of the total cost of construction of the BJP office, names of all donors, amount contributed by each donor, mode of payment, bank accounts through which contributions were routed, details of major contractors and vendors, and the audited expenditure statement, subject to applicable privacy and legal requirements.
Panjikar said that since BJP leaders themselves were claiming that the office was built through contributions from party workers, the party should have no difficulty supporting the claim with documents.
“Fine—prove it with documents. Tell Goa who paid, how much was paid and where every rupee went. If the funding is clean and lawful, transparency will clear all doubts. If the BJP refuses to disclose it, people will naturally ask what it is trying to hide,” he said.
The fresh exchange has sharpened the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress over the new party office. While BJP leaders have strongly rejected the Congress charge and challenged it to produce evidence, the Congress has now shifted the focus to disclosure of the BJP’s financial records relating to the construction.
Panjikar said the Congress would continue raising questions over political funding and demand financial transparency, accountability and compliance with laws governing political donations and party accounts.
“The BJP made the claim. The burden of proving it is on the BJP. Open the books and let the truth come out—doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani,” Panjikar said.
