Panaji, November 3: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a statewide ‘Mhargai Mukti Yatra’ (Freedom from Inflation March), beginning on November 26, Constitution Day, and concluding on December 19, Goa Liberation Day, as part of its campaign against rising prices and the BJP-led government in Goa.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in the presence of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik and other senior party leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Valmiki Naik said the yatra would cover the entire state with two primary objectives: to understand the problems, expectations and aspirations of Goans and to take the party’s six ‘Aamchi Goyak Guarantees’ directly to every household.

Kejriwal criticised the BJP government over rising inflation, claiming that ordinary Goan families were struggling to meet their daily expenses despite the state’s relatively high per-capita income.

He outlined six guarantees aimed at reducing the financial burden on families and improving essential services.

The guarantees include scrapping Section 39A of the Town and Country Planning Act, free electricity with uninterrupted supply, health insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh for every family, monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000 for women, free bus travel for women and world-class playgrounds with modern facilities in every village.

Kejriwal said AAP leaders would interact directly with residents during the yatra to understand their difficulties and discuss practical solutions.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said the campaign was intended to bring meaningful change rather than merely highlight public grievances. She stressed that AAP’s political objective was to prevent the BJP from returning to power in Goa.

Valmiki Naik alleged that the BJP government had failed to control inflation and provide adequate employment opportunities for educated youth. He claimed that rising costs of electricity, water, healthcare and education were putting increasing pressure on household budgets.

Despite Goa’s natural resources, educated population and economic potential, ordinary citizens continued to face financial insecurity, he said.

Naik also accused the BJP government of favouring builders and wealthy interests at the expense of Goa’s land, environment and local communities.

Taking a dig at both the BJP and Congress, Naik described the present political arrangement as a “BJP-Congress joint venture,” claiming that 14 of the BJP’s 28 MLAs had originally been elected on Congress tickets.

He asserted that Goa needed freedom not only from inflation but also from the BJP and the politics of defections.

The announcement was also attended by AAP Goa Senior Vice President Sandesh Teleikar Dessai, Organising Secretary Prashant Naik, Working President Gerson Gomes and Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas.

With the yatra scheduled to run from Constitution Day to Goa Liberation Day, AAP aims to mobilise public support around inflation, governance, environmental protection and its six guarantees ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
