Panaji, July 17: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday presented the Excellence in Sports Award along with financial assistance of ₹12.50 lakh to the family of Goa’s ace squash player Yash Fadte at Mahalaxmi, Altinho, Panaji, in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contribution to Indian squash.

 

During the presentation, the Chief Minister also assured Yash Fadte of additional special financial support to assist with his preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Dr. Sawant said that Yash Fadte has brought immense pride to both Goa and the nation through his exceptional performances on the international stage. He highlighted Fadte’s recent victory at the Barcelona Global Squash Tour 1 in Spain and his receipt of the prestigious Skillman Award in the United States as milestones that reflect his dedication and excellence.

The Chief Minister praised Fadte’s discipline, determination and commitment to the sport, stating that his achievements serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across Goa.

Reiterating the State Government’s commitment to promoting sports, Dr. Sawant said every deserving athlete would continue to receive the necessary support to excel at the highest level, adding that encouraging sporting excellence is an important part of building a Viksit Goa.
