Panaji, June 30: The Vocal Voters of Goa, under the initiative Project Priority Goa (Goy Pratham), has called on all opposition parties to unite and act responsibly, warning that continued infighting and inaction would further weaken public confidence ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

In a press note issued on Tuesday, the group alleged that Goa’s identity, environment, land, water bodies and communities have suffered severe damage under the BJP government’s rule. It also claimed that rising incidents of drugs, murders, rapes and other crimes have created fear and insecurity among citizens.

The organisation said Goans are looking forward to the forthcoming elections in the hope of replacing what it described as an “incompetent, corrupt and destructive” government.

However, the group also criticised the opposition, alleging that its inaction over the past four-and-a-half years and continued internal conflicts have eroded public trust. It stated that the lack of unity and frequent public disagreements among opposition parties have raised serious doubts about their ability to present a credible alternative.

The Vocal Voters of Goa said it has placed all opposition parties “on notice”, demanding greater discipline, transparency, coordination and a firm commitment to protecting Goa’s interests. It stressed that the people deserve a united opposition that places the state’s welfare above personal or political agendas.

Describing its statement as more than a political appeal, the organisation said it was a call to safeguard Goa’s heritage, environment and dignity, adding that the time for complacency has ended and accountability and decisive action are now essential.
