Goa Govt Draws Up 3-Year Road Map for ‘Nasha Mukt Goa’; CM Calls for Stronger Anti-Drug Surveillance

Porvorim, July 29: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a coordination meeting of stakeholder departments on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, reviewing a three-year road map for 2026-2029 aimed at strengthening Goa’s fight against narcotics through coordinated enforcement, prevention, awareness and rehabilitation.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed measures undertaken by various enforcement agencies and directed all stakeholders to intensify surveillance and strengthen coordinated action against the drug menace.

The government also plans to identify and support NGOs involved in the rehabilitation of people affected by drug addiction. Sawant said government de-addiction facilities would be expanded at the OPD level in both North and South Goa.

As part of the proposed road map, mobile units are also expected to be introduced for drug awareness, counselling and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on taking preventive and support services closer to communities.

The Education and Social Welfare Departments have been entrusted with strengthening awareness campaigns, while the Health Department will further enhance treatment and rehabilitation services.

Sawant reiterated the government’s commitment to the vision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and “Nasha Mukt Goa”, saying the campaign would combine strict enforcement against narcotics with prevention, public awareness, treatment and rehabilitation.
