Amit Patkar to Hold Teachers’ Town Hall in Margao on September 6

Panaji, September 3: Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar will host a Teachers’ Town Hall at Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, on September 6, aimed at providing teaching and non-teaching staff from across Goa a platform to raise their concerns, grievances and challenges.

The Town Hall, scheduled for 11 am, will be open to members of the education fraternity, including pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher secondary teachers, vocational teachers, librarians and non-teaching staff.

Announcing the initiative ahead of Teachers’ Day, Patkar said celebrations should go beyond ceremonial appreciation and focus on listening to the problems faced by educators.

“Teachers are the people who shape Goa’s future. We cannot limit Teachers’ Day to ceremonies, bouquets and words of appreciation. We must also listen to the problems faced by those who dedicate their lives to educating our children,” Patkar said.

He said the interaction would allow educators to speak openly about issues such as working conditions, job security, service-related matters, administrative difficulties and other grievances affecting the education sector.

Patkar maintained that those responsible for building future generations deserved dignity, fairness and justice, and that their concerns should reach decision-makers rather than remain unresolved in government files.

“This Town Hall is an effort to listen directly to the people who are at the heart of Goa’s education system,” he said.

Patkar has appealed to teaching and non-teaching employees from across the state to participate in the programme and place their concerns on an open platform.

The Teachers’ Town Hall will be held on September 6 at 11 am at Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao.
