Concerns have been raised regarding the safety and suitability of the venue selected for the upcoming Mormugao Summer Fest 2026, scheduled to be held at Rose Circle Ground. A memorandum seeking clarification on the permissions granted for the event was formally submitted to the Mormugao Police Station on Thursday.

The representation highlights serious apprehensions about the adequacy of the venue, which reportedly measures around 2,500 square metres. According to the memorandum, the space appears insufficient to safely accommodate an expected crowd of over 10,000 attendees, raising concerns over crowd management, emergency preparedness, and overall public safety.

The memorandum further points out the absence of designated buffer zones and lack of proper parking arrangements at the site. It warns that these shortcomings could result in traffic congestion in nearby areas, inconvenience to local residents, and potential obstruction for emergency services in case of any untoward incident.

Emphasising the need for strict adherence to safety norms, the applicants have underlined that large-scale public events must be supported by comprehensive planning, including adequate space allocation, effective crowd control mechanisms, traffic management strategies, and emergency response systems.

Through the submission, the authorities have been urged to clarify the criteria under which permission for the event was granted. A review of the existing arrangements has also been sought, with a call for necessary corrective measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
