Panaji, May 29: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Thursday announced a new leadership team for the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) with immediate effect.

According to an official communication issued by AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal, senior Congress leader Girish Chodankar has been appointed as the new President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.

The AICC has also appointed three Working Presidents for the GPCC, including M. K. Shaikh, Altone D’Costa and Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira.

Datta D. Naik has been appointed as the Treasurer of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.

The Congress leadership also appreciated the contribution of outgoing GPCC President Amit Patkar for his dedicated service to the organisation.

In addition to the new appointments, the Congress President has approved the constitution of various committees for the GPCC.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Campaign Committee, while South Goa Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes will head the Manifesto Committee.

Senior Congress leader Francisco Sardinha has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Co-ordination Committee, with Sunil Kawthankar serving as the Co-Chairperson.

The reshuffle is being viewed as a significant organisational move by the Congress party ahead of upcoming political challenges in the state.
