Goa Mahila Congress Joins Nationwide Protest for Immediate Implementation of Women’s Reservation Act

Panaji/New Delhi, July 22: Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress President Dr. Pratiksha Khalap, along with office bearers of the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress, participated in the “Chalo Dilli Andolan” organised by the All India Mahila Congress at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi, demanding the immediate implementation of the Nari Vandana Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Act).

The protest witnessed the participation of thousands of women from across the country, who came together to urge the Central Government to implement the Women’s Reservation Act without any further delay. The demonstrators stressed that the legislation, which provides for 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, should be enforced immediately instead of being postponed indefinitely.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pratiksha Khalap said the Nari Vandana Adhiniyam reflects the aspirations of millions of women seeking equal representation in decision-making and governance. She asserted that meaningful political empowerment of women can only be achieved through the timely implementation of the legislation.

The Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress reiterated its commitment to continue its campaign until the Women’s Reservation Act is implemented, stating that greater representation of women in legislatures is essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring equal opportunities in public life.
