Panaji, June 28: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has strongly criticised the BJP Government following the death of Anand Patil, alleging that the incident reflects the complete breakdown of law and order in the State. Anand Patil, who was allegedly assaulted near Socorro earlier this month, succumbed to his injuries, triggering widespread demands for justice.
In a statement, GPCC Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar said Patil’s death was “yet another indictment” of the BJP Government’s failure to ensure public safety.
Panjikar alleged that criminals were roaming freely while the Government remained a “mute spectator,” adding that Goa was becoming increasingly unsafe. He said every such loss of life raises serious questions about the Government’s competence and accountability.
“The BJP Government has completely surrendered before lawlessness. People deserve security, not empty slogans and hollow assurances,” Panjikar said.
Referring to the recent spate of violent crimes in the State, he also took a swipe at Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, stating, “Tumka Bhivpachi Khup Garaj Aasa” (You need to be afraid), while accusing the Government of failing to curb rising crime.
Patil’s death has sparked public outrage, with residents and political leaders demanding swift justice and stricter action against those responsible.
