Panaji, June 27: The Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) on Saturday elected its 10-member Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term during its Annual General Meeting and elections held at the GUJ office in Panaji.
GUJ President Rajtilak Naik, Assistant Photo Editor with the Goa edition of The Times of India, was formally declared elected unopposed for a record fourth consecutive term.
A total of 151 of the 219 eligible members cast their votes, registering a voter turnout of 68.94 per cent. Two votes were declared invalid.
The following candidates were elected to the Executive Committee:
1. Kishor Keshav Naik Gaonkar – 119 votes
2. Sagun Gawade – 112 votes
3. Gauree Malkarnekar – 106 votes
4. Sandeep Desai – 106 votes
5. Vasudev B. Pagi – 101 votes
6. Upendra Naik – 100 votes
7. William Patrick Rodrigues – 83 votes
8. Ashley Do Rosario – 80 votes
9. Sameer Ashok Naik – 80 votes
10. Ajay Lad – 79 votes
The unsuccessful candidates and their vote tally were:
Swapnil Tari – 78 votes
Narayan Pissurlenkar – 66 votes
Krantiraj Samrat – 63 votes
Roque Dias – 57 votes
Anil Sanadi – 37 votes
Sandip V. Tuenkar – 27 votes
Returning Officer Jamaluddin Shaikh thanked the outgoing Executive Committee for conducting the elections smoothly and expressed appreciation to all GUJ members who assisted in the polling and counting process, including Pramod Thakur and Diana Fernandes.
