Madganvcho Awaaz Urges CM to Expedite Mathgram Vidya Sankul Project at Davorlim

Margao, July 27: Madganvcho Awaaz has urged Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to expedite the proposed Mathgram Vidya Sankul project at Davorlim, saying its early completion is crucial to ease traffic congestion in Margao and provide a modern educational environment.

In a representation submitted to the Chief Minister, Madganvcho Awaaz leader Prabhav Naik sought immediate intervention to speed up approvals, infrastructure development and construction work related to the project and ensure its completion within a defined timeframe.

Naik recalled that Madganvcho Awaaz had submitted a memorandum to the South Goa District Collector on August 12, 2024, proposing that major educational institutions currently concentrated in the heart of Margao be gradually shifted to the land acquired at Davorlim for the proposed educational hub. The organisation followed up the demand on February 3, 2025.

The issue was subsequently raised in the Goa Legislative Assembly by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on July 28, 2025. According to the representation, the Chief Minister had then assured that the process would be initiated within three months.

Naik further pointed out that during the 2026-27 Budget speech on March 6, 2026, the Chief Minister announced that work on the Mathgram Vidya Sankul at Davorlim had commenced.

Project Key to Decongesting Margao

Highlighting the traffic problems faced by the city, Naik said Margao witnesses severe congestion during morning and afternoon peak hours on school days due to the concentration of educational institutions in the city centre.

Thousands of students, parents, school buses and other commuters spend considerable time in traffic, resulting in loss of productive hours, higher fuel consumption, pollution and increased road-safety risks, the representation stated.

Madganvcho Awaaz maintained that establishing the educational hub at Davorlim could significantly decongest Margao, streamline traffic movement and create a safer and more conducive learning environment.

Naik urged the Chief Minister to direct the departments concerned to fast-track all pending processes and complete the long-awaited project within a stipulated timeframe.

“The timely intervention will help translate this visionary initiative into reality and provide lasting relief to the citizens of Margao and South Goa,” Naik stated in the representation.
