Panaji, October 8, 2026: Veteran actor and National Award winner Nana Patekar passed away in Goa early Thursday morning after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula. He was 75.

According to reports, Patekar was found unconscious at his residence and rushed to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors made extensive efforts to revive him. However, despite nearly 45 minutes of continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), he could not be saved.

Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that the actor was declared dead at approximately 5.20 am.

A medico-legal case has been registered, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted as part of the formal procedure.

Patekar’s son, Malhar Patekar, has reportedly confirmed his father’s demise and is travelling to Goa. A detailed statement from the family is awaited.

One of Indian cinema’s most powerful and versatile performers, Nana Patekar carved a distinctive identity through his intense acting, commanding dialogue delivery and memorable portrayals of complex characters.

His performances in films such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahaar, Agni Sakshi, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome and the Marathi masterpiece Natsamrat earned him widespread recognition and admiration across generations.

Equally respected in Hindi and Marathi cinema, Patekar was known for bringing remarkable authenticity and emotional depth to his roles. His contribution extended beyond acting, making him one of the most recognisable personalities in Indian cinema.

His sudden demise in Goa marks the end of an extraordinary cinematic journey and leaves a lasting void in the Indian film industry.
