Barcelona, 30 September 2026 : Goan squash player Yash Fadte continued his impressive run on the professional circuit by winning the PSA Copa Federació 2026 at Sant Andreu, Barcelona, defeating top-seeded Ignacio Fajardo of Spain in straight games in the final.

Seeded third in the tournament, Fadte produced a commanding performance throughout the championship, winning all four matches without dropping a single game against a competitive international field featuring players from Spain, France, England, Wales, Argentina and India.

Fadte began his campaign with a 3–0 victory over Spain’s Aleix Romero, winning 11–3, 11–6, 11–4 in 35 minutes. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Adrian Gaug, Spain’s No. 1 junior, 11–5, 11–9, 11–7 in 31 minutes.

The semifinal presented a tougher challenge against second seed Marc Altarriba, Spain’s No. 4-ranked player. Fadte maintained his unbeaten run with a 3–0 victory, prevailing 11–7, 11–7, 13–11 in 47 minutes.

In the title clash, Fadte faced tournament top seed Ignacio Fajardo. The Goan wrapped up another straight-games victory, winning 11–5, 11–8, 14–12 in 50 minutes to lift the trophy.

The victory marks another important milestone in Fadte’s professional career as he seeks to improve his PSA world ranking and position himself for the longer-term race towards Olympic qualification.

“I am absolutely happy to have won another championship, and I’m feeling more and more confident as I’m getting these wins,” Fadte said. He added that his immediate focus is on securing maximum wins and ranking points during an important upcoming season.

Fadte will next travel to Portugal for another PSA tournament, followed by events in Copenhagen and France. He is expected to return to India in November to compete in the Senior National Squash Championships in Mumbai.

The Barcelona triumph adds another international title to Fadte’s growing record as the Goan continues his campaign on the PSA World Tour with the ambition of representing India at the Olympic Games.
