Panaji, November 3: Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar has extended his support to 188 Goa Dairy employees demanding the immediate release of Dearness Allowance (DA) pending since July 2023, along with outstanding arrears.
A delegation of employees met Patkar and highlighted their grievances, stating that repeated representations and assurances had failed to secure the release of their legitimate dues.
Expressing concern over the prolonged delay, Patkar criticised the management and concerned authorities for failing to address the financial concerns of employees who have continued to discharge their duties sincerely.
“Dearness Allowance is not a favour but a legitimate entitlement of employees. Keeping 188 workers waiting for their rightful dues despite repeated assurances is completely unjustified,” Patkar stated.
The employees have decided to launch peaceful demonstrations from Wednesday, November 4, holding protests twice daily at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. until their demands are addressed.
Supporting their agitation, Patkar said employees have every right to collectively raise their grievances and demand justice. He urged the Goa Dairy management and concerned authorities to immediately clear all pending DA payments from July 2023 onwards, along with the accumulated arrears.
“Employees contributing to the functioning of an important institution like Goa Dairy deserve fairness, dignity and timely payment of their benefits. Their voices must be heard, and their demands addressed without further delay,” he said.
Patkar assured the employees of his continued support and pledged to pursue the matter until all 188 affected workers receive their legitimate financial dues.
