Panaji, August 6 : Former GPCC President Amit Patkar has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict in favour of PWD workers, calling it a landmark judgment that upholds justice, fairness, and the dignity of government employees.

Patkar said the ruling has exposed the BJP Government’s unjust approach towards its own workforce. “Instead of recognising the dedicated service rendered by these workers, the Government chose to oppose them in the courts for years, forcing them into unnecessary litigation and immense hardship. This should never have happened,” he stated.

He demanded that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant immediately announce a comprehensive policy for the regularisation of all eligible employees across every department. “Justice cannot be selective. Every employee who satisfies the eligibility criteria deserves equal treatment, irrespective of the department in which he or she serves,” Patkar asserted.

Patkar further urged the Government to announce this policy before Ganesh Chaturthi, Goa’s most cherished festival, so that thousands of employees and their families can celebrate with dignity and security. He warned that failure to act would trigger a massive democratic movement across Goa, uniting employees and citizens to end discrimination.

Concluding his statement, Patkar said: “The Supreme Court has delivered its verdict. The Government must now decide whether it stands with the workers of Goa or continues to deny justice to those who have devoted years of service to the State. The time for excuses is over. The time for justice is now.”
