Goa Fire Emergency Helpline 101 Merged With 112; Public Asked to Dial Single Emergency Number

Panaji: Goa’s Fire and Emergency Services have been integrated with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112, bringing fire, rescue and other emergency calls under the unified emergency number 112.

The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services announced that calls made to the existing toll-free fire helpline 101 will now be automatically rerouted to the ERSS-112 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The calls will then be processed and dispatched to the concerned fire station.

The Directorate has urged citizens to dial 112 in the event of a genuine fire, rescue or other emergency.

Under the integrated system, emergency calls received through ERSS-112 will be digitally recorded and documented before being dispatched to the appropriate fire station. The system is expected to enable better monitoring, coordination and timely emergency response.

During the transition and stabilisation period, citizens have been asked not to contact individual fire station landline numbers to report emergencies. These numbers will henceforth be used exclusively for official and administrative purposes.

Callers have also been advised to provide accurate information about the nature of the emergency, exact location, nearby landmarks and contact details to help emergency personnel respond quickly.

The Directorate warned against false, frivolous and non-emergency calls to 112, saying misuse of the emergency helpline could delay assistance to people facing genuine emergencies.

“In case of fire, rescue or any other emergency — dial 112,” the Directorate said, seeking public cooperation for the smooth functioning of the integrated emergency response system.
