Victory for the villagers of Ecoxim Pomburpa

Panaji, 13: In a significant development, the villagers of Ecoxim have secured a major victory after petitioner Direndra Phadte approached the Supreme Court of India regarding the project associated with fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani in Ecoxim.

After the matter was dismissed by the Bombay High Court (Goa Bench), Direndra Phadte moved the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court observed that authorities should not rely on the Regional Plan 2001 while granting permissions and that only the Regional Plan 2021 must be followed.

Following the Court’s observations, Direndra Phadte and his team have submitted a representation to the Deputy Town Planner, Mapusa, and the Secretary of Pomburpa/Olaulim Panchayat, requesting them to revoke the construction licence and ensure that all approvals strictly comply with the Regional Plan 2021.

They have urged the TCP department and panchayat to take appropriate action in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.
